Friendly Football Match 27/03/2015

Last friday (27/03/2015), TLO Engineering Football team had a friendly match at NPNG sports center in Damansara Damai/Permai. It was a blue-coloured artificial football pitch. We took some time to get used to the condition of the field and the way the ball reacted to every bounce.

It was a fun match. Although we lost 5-0, we finally got into the groove  mid-way through the second half. I didn't start the match but was called into action minutes after game started after a colleague got injured. I played up top and managed to nutmeg a defender.. hahah!

Throughout the match, we changed position and i ended up playing as a second striker and also an attacking midfielder. Hopefully I can nail down a specific position in the future. Can't wait for the next match :)

Great bunch of guys
Leading up to the match, I had some troubles with my boots. I got few blisters on my foot after the last match. To avoid this from happening again, I tried a few tricks suggested by wifey, which is to wear the thick socks and blow-drying the boot while wearing it. It worked but not to the level I wanted. So I called my close friend and asked him to get the cheapest football socks he can find so i can cut it.

This method is widely used by professional players, whereby you wear 2 socks that is taped together. Simple. Just wear any socks you feel comfortable wearing with your football boots, and then just slip the football socks which has been cut over it and just tape the part where the 2 socks overlapped. Jackpot! It was very comfortable and I ended the match with no injuries whatsoever. (The vaseline also helped!) Feel free to try this method. Just don't waste your money on expensive socks if you plan to cut it :P

Tadaaa!! I love my white boots :)

Adam Tan's New School Hip Hop Workshop

On 7th Dec 2014, Adam Tan conducted a New School Hip Hop dance workshop at Sole to Soul Dance Studio. Adam was formerly an instructor there before he went to the states. Previously, I attended his class every Thursday night and I can say that his class was really awesome. Inspired by Shaun Evaristo, his movement in his choreo is very fluid and has a lot of grooving motion. If he is back in Malaysia to conduct classes or workshop again, you will definitely don't want to miss it. Thank you Adam for the awesome workshop and hope to see you again in the future :)

 Weeee!

Here's a look at the choreo :)

Dancing Shoes

To-date, I'm still curious about where I obtained this love for dancing in my family. Yes, my side of the family is quite musical. My mom and sis plays the organ while my brother plays the guitar. Me? I play both! But dancing? I'm really clueless.. Haha!

Growing up idolizing Michael Jackson, its only a matter if time before you are able to do the moonwalk, followed by the glide. I still remember the look on my friend's face when I managed to do that in primary school. It was awesome! In secondary school, I memorized the whole choreo of NSYNC's "Its Gonna Be Me", and danced along while watching NSYNC's live performance in Madison Square Garden. However, in college, the passion or talent (hahahah!) was very well hidden since I was really in to football that time.

Nearing the end of my studying year, I joined Baby G's class in Celebrity Fitness One Utama. And thats when and where it really kicked off for me. Slowly learning the style, I was exposed to a different style of hip hop and type of songs. After a few months, I got to know a wonderful girl and later became my good friend on the dancefloor. Although my then-gf asked me to listen to korean songs, it was Fiza who managed to persuade me to dance to it and we even attended a kpop trial class at Sole to Soul Dance Studio (STSDS) in Kelana Jaya. And the rest, as they say, is history.

From then on, with the exposure I got from Baby G's class at the gym, Kido's KPop class and Jason's MTV and New School Hip Hop Class, I finally became a substitute dance instructor at the gym, replacing Baby G's class whenever she's not around. Furthermore, in 2011, i was selected to be a member of Sole to Soul's Dance Company. Trainings, shows and concert were all part of the gig, and it was a wonderful feeling to be part of something major and it definitely changed my life.

Today, after being a member of the Elite dancer at STSDS for 2 years, I am now one of the faculty members there, teaching MTV class every Tuesday, 9.30pm. If you are interested to learn the choreographies you see on the tv (e.g MJ, Ne-Yo, Taeyang etc), come drop by and give it a try! Hope to see you guys in January 2015!!!

Football Meets Dancefloor

Football? Music? Dancefloor? Engineer? Do I have to pick one?

Hi! This is Ezry, your ordinary boy (really?) next door who happens to love both the sporting world and the music industry. A kid who grew up in KL/PJ  and fell in love with good music and football straight from the kick-off. Being the youngest in the family, I grew up in a typical asian family where anything other than the ordinary will get a weird-looking stare :p Lets talk about sports first, particularly football shall we?

I'm a life-long Man Utd and Italy fan. I never actually cared about any bantering from other teams' fans who claim that their team is the best or "Hey look! Your team is waaaaayyyy down the table". I just wanna watch a good, entertaining football match. If my team deserves to lose then so be it. I grew up watching Ryan Giggs as my idol on the football field. A complete footballer who was a great servant to the club. Will definitely miss him running down the wings causing havoc to the opponent. Hopefully one day I'll get to meet the legend in person. No harm in dreaming, right?

Apart from football, my other passion is music, especially dancing. Play me a good music and my body will have a mind on its own. Having Michael Jackson as your favourite artist when you were a kid will definitely make you wanna dance, doesn't it? Well, blame it on the boogie! As time passed by, the list of idols grew, which includes JT, Usher, NSYNC, Rain and Taeyang. Apart from the late MJ, would love to at least shake hands with these talented people.

Currently an Engineer and a dance instructor at Sole to Soul Dance Studio, you can say that I'm living a double life. This blog is dedicated to share my passion of both the sporting world and the music industry. Stay tuned for more entries and do leave comments if any :)
